Batch Input

The Reports > Batch Setup Batch Input> (red button in upper right of screen) option is similar to Batch Upload, but you input your settings on the Batch Entry Settings screen as opposed to uploading an existing text file with predefined settings. If you have part numbers, CAGE codes, or NIINs that you frequently refer to, you can use the Batch Input feature to create a list of that information.

For definitions on each of the fields in the Batch Entry Settings screen, refer to the topic Batch Entry Settings screen.

Below is an example for performing a batch on just a few items, which shows you how much information can be retrieved with a single batch job.

  1. Go to Reports > Batch Setup > Batch Input (red button upper right of screen)
  2. Enter Bearings in the Title field or leave it blank.
    Note:
If you leave the field blank it is more difficult to identify the Batch Job in the Batch Status list.
  3. Enter Related data for sleeve bearings in the Description field or leave it blank.
  4. Enter Bearings Data in the Output Name field or leave it blank.
    Note:
If you leave the field blank it is more difficult to identify the Batch Job in the Batch Status list.
  5. Select Default MS Excel as an output format from the Output Format pull-down menu.
    Note:
To create a unique output format for your data, use the Create button. For this example, we used a default format, which cannot be edited. To edit a format you previously created, use the Edit button.
  6. Select PKZIP Compression for your Archive Type.
  7. Select Part No/CAGE as the type of keys (items) to use from the Input Key Type pull-down menu.
  8. Leave the Exact Part Number Matching check box blank.
    Note:
If you check this option, you receive output only if the NIIN/NSN (or whichever option you chose in step 7) matches a FLIS record with the exact same NIIN, including dashes, slashes, spaces, etc.
  9. Click the Enter Keys button and on the Batch Key Entry screen, enter the following part numbers (followed by a space) and then the CAGE number.
    475668  77445
    4004356  61465
    2584371  80064
  10. Click the Submit Batch button. A message displays stating the batch job is being processed. Click on the link to the Batch Status page.
  11. In the Output File column, click on your batch job (BearingsData.zip). WinZip opens with your Excel spreadsheet .xls file listed.
  12. Double-click the .xls file. The spreadsheet includes a worksheet tab for every database that has data related to your entry key items. Also included is a Details tab containing the original Batch ID and search keys.
