The following samples show you how the application interprets your key entries when you use the Input Key Type.
NSN/NIIN
When you input a text file containing either an NSN or NIIN, the NSN is
automatically stripped of any special characters such as the dash (-)
that is prevalent in many NSN/NIINs.

Without Line Item Numbers (LIN):
5835010606521 (NSN without dashes = FSC + NIIN = 13 characters)
8132306 (NIIN without preceding zeros = 7 characters)

Part Number
Part number searches have the potential of resulting in more than one NIIN
record returned for each part number (maximum is 500). For a more efficient
search use NIIN/NSN or Part-Number + CAGE code wherever possible. Only
the first 32 characters of a part number (not including punctuation) are
used in the search. Punctuation in part numbers is NOT relevant. A search
on part number 2-468 will yield NIIN records that include part numbers
2468, 2/468, 2-468, 2 468, etc.

Part Number plus CAGE
Codes
Part Numbers combined with CAGE codes (Vendor codes) generally yield precise
NIIN records. The format is part number and CAGE with no space between
the part number and the CAGE number. Part numbers can be any length, however,
only the first 32 characters (excluding punctuation) are searched. CAGE
codes are always 5 characters in length. Punctuation in part numbers is
NOT relevant, therefore a search of part number 2-468 will yield NIIN
records that include part numbers 2468, 2/468, 2-468, etc.

Address Info
This search yields the Vendor address information as found in the H4/H8
data. This information is also included, by default, in the output of
the searches above.
