Batch Process
The Batch process is a time-saving tool that allows you
to search several Haystack databases for related data. For example, if
you have a large list of parts for which you need to search related NIINs,
parts, or procurement history, you can use the batch process to request
a report that returns particular data for multiple parts. It is also helpful
if you frequently need to check the same list of parts, or NSNs. You can
retrieve the data to analyze and/or create statistical reports for your
day-to-day functions.
Expert Batch
- The Expert Batch reporting tool provides superior reporting for report
requests with more than 50 items and gives you the following advantages:
- You can view all headers
and data on a single spreadsheet without using tabs to view different
data on different worksheets.
- You have the additional
option of creating a PDF report as your output.
- You can select the database
you want the data pulled from.
- You can create a standard
report request and save it on the Haystack server for reuse, which allows
you to ask for repeated information in a specified format at future dates.
- When you select the data
you want included in your report, you work from a more organized and readable
screen for setting up your report that allows you to put sections and
fields you are including in a preferred header order.
Note: Batch
jobs are deleted after the maximum number of jobs has been reached (approximately
20). At this time, the user cannot manually delete a batch job.
The process includes:
- Batch
Upload - Use the Batch Upload feature to input a text file consisting
of part numbers, part numbers and CAGE codes, NSN/NIINs, or just CAGE
codes. Batch Upload functionality is similar to Batch Input but it requires
that you predefine settings and, for example, set the file up as delimited,
delineate line numbering, and the number of records to process, etc.
- Batch
Input - Use the Batch Input screen to input search criteria. Batch
Input functionality is similar to Batch Upload but it does not allow you
to upload an existing file. It does, however, allow you to input settings
manually without predefining settings.
- Batch
Status - Use the Batch Status feature
to view status details of your batch job.
