SPMIG
The Standard PMS (Planned Maintenance Systems) Materials
Identification Guide (SPMIG) is a database of codes and information that
pertains to surface ships and submarines during shipyard, overhaul, and
Intermediate Maintenance activity (IMA) availabilities.
You can search this database with any of the following
search criteria: Guide Number, NIIN, FSC, Nomenclature, CAGE, APL, Part
Number, CAT Code, Scat Cd, and MIL/FED.
To
do a SPMIG search
- Click the Database
menu, highlight US
Navy, and then click SPMIG.
The Search window for SPMIG is displayed.
- Enter 76588
in the CAGE field, and then click the Search
button or press Enter. The results
(11 records) include all references in the SPMIG that are applicable to
CAGE number 76588.
- Click the SPMIG reference
number 07894 in the Number
column. An information panel is displayed:
- Nomenclature
- The name of the item referenced in 07894.
- Remark
- This field is blank because no remarks about the item have been input.
- SPMIG
Number - The reference number in the SPMIG. The number assigned
to items in the Tools, Parts, Materials, Test Equipment block on MRC (Maintenance
Requirement Code).
- FSC
- The Federal Supply Classification code (5330), which identifies the
item as the supply classification, Packing and Gasket Materials, which
includes General Purpose Oil Grease, Air, Liquid, Gas, and chemical Seals;
Oakum; Prefabricated Gaskets and Seals designed for a single specific
application.
- Part
Number - This is the part number for the gasket associated
with SPMIG 07894.
- MIL/FED
- Identifies Military/Federal specifications that the item must meet.
In this search the field is blank because a specification is not available

- CAT
Code - Category (CAT) codes are assigned to items such as parts,
