The absence of an indicator means that there are parts in the MCRL that have various CC/VC combinations, and as the parts are available, per the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), they will be coded under the RNCC and RNVC headings in the MCRL.

RNCC is also known as CC and represents Reference Number Category Code. The RNCC specifies the relationship of the part number to the Item of Supply.

RNVC is also known as VC and represents Reference Number Variation Code in a one-character code that indicates the source level for the part. For example, 2s and 3s indicate there is a sole source for the part.

A green square indicates that the part is a Design/Source Control Reference Item and is supported by DLA.

A red square indicates that, even though the NIIN or Part Number is listed in Haystack as a historical record, it is no longer supported by DLA.

A yellow square indicates that DLA has changed the RNCC/RNVC codes to 5/9, which indicates that the item is still in their catalogue but is considered canceled as obsolete or superseded.

Pink highlighting indicates that the item is not authorized for procurement, based on the ISC code.
