FIIG Images

FIIGClosedFederal Item Identification Guide - a document used to describe the characteristics of an item.he codes associated with the FIIG represent standard requirements and formats for identifying an item of supply by those characteristics which differentiate one item from another. For example, a FIIG code of A003B represents bolts and screws. FIIGs are being replaced by IIGs. images may be available in the Technical Characteristics data and can be accessed by clicking FIIG Image. If a FIIG image is not available, FIIG Image is grayed out.

To access a FIIG image

  1. Click DatabaseFLIS/TIRClosedFederal Logistic Information System - data is the Federal Supply Catalog, which is comprised of the following databases in Haystack: FLIS (Parts 1, 2, 3); the Management List - Consolidated (ML-C); the Federal Supply Classifications Handbooks (H-2); the Federal Item Name Directory (H-6); the Commercial Activity Government Entity Handbook (CAGE); the Characteristics Data (V-Segment); the Interchangeability / Substitutability Data; and the Major Organizational Entity Rules (MOE) databases..
  2. Type 005347553 in the NSNClosedNational Stock Number - a 13-digit number assigned to a part under the Federal Cataloging Program. The first four digits of the NSN are the Federal Supply Class (FSC) of the part. The last nine digits are the National Item Identification Number (NIIN) of the part./NIINClosedNational Item Identification Number - nine-digit number assigned to a part under the Federal Cataloging Program. It is the last nine digits of the National Stock Number. field, and then click Search.
  3. On the Details/Summary window, click Technical Characteristics in the NSN column under the statement, "This NIIN was also found in the following databases."

  4. In the Technical Characteristics (ILSClosedInventory Locator Service. ILS is aviation's largest and most active eMarketplace and is used by more than 200 airlines and 700 repair stations, as well as manufacturers, FBOs and distributors. Aviation suppliers around the world list over 5 billion parts in the ILS database. The ILS electronic marketplace includes parts, equipment, overhaul and service capabilities from suppliers around the world, and company profiles, ILS also offers Parts Manufacturer Approvals from suppliers holding a PMA issued by the Federal Aviation Administration and United States Government Cross References. This electronic marketplace enables suppliers to selectively advertise inventory to target markets and/or government buyers. The company has served the aviation industry since 1979 and the marine industry since 1989. If you click the underlined ILS Mart link for the NIIN (when available by selecting More Databases) or click the ILS icon, the NSN used to display the list of Part Numbers is derived by matching the ILS Part Number and Item Name to the FLIS Part Number and Item Name. By clicking the part number link you will be taken to the ILSMart Website which provides you a list of Part Numbers with Item Names and Vendor Names, for your review, that may or may not include the item you are looking for. You must type a user name and password to Login to the site.) NIIN table, click FIIG Image.
  5. A FIIG image appears that complies to all of the NIIN and any other drill-down characteristics criteria you may have defined. Click the image that appears in Haystack Gold to enlarge it.
